Waunakee

The Waunakee area has an array of houses including traditional, ranch, and modern style homes with a majority of them being single-family homes. It’s a great neighborhood for families with kids of all ages because it hosts an abundance of parks and amenities while still maintaining the small town feel.

In pass time, many families like to head over to Centennial Park or the Ripp Recreation Area to enjoy the tennis courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, and tennis courts.

To highlight the family-friendly neighborhood, Waunakee is home to several schools including Heritage Elementary, Prairie Elementary, Waunakee Intermediate, Waunakee Middle School, and Waunakee High School.

Along with the other amenities, residents have access to a variety of restaurants including The Lone Girl Brewing Co, Rex’s Innkeeper, Spring Garden, Zoe’s Pizzeria, Gold Nugget Bar & Grill.

University Heights

The University Heights neighborhood is known for its historic architecture. It is filled with well-preserved houses dated back to the early 20th century that have distinctive features with the woodwork, stained glass windows, and unique details.

The cultural and artistic scene, tree-lined streets and well-maintained green spaces enhance the area and serve as the perfect gathering spot for people to relax and socialize with friends and family. In addition, people can meet at one of the many local businesses within this area including shops, bookstores, and boutiques that are within walking distance. Residents also have access to dining at places like Geraci’s, Gigi’s On Fairmount, Stone Oven Bakery Cafe, and Mia Bella’s.

This family-friendly neighborhood is home to two schools including Randall Elementary and West High School and in close proximity to the University of Madison.

Fitchburg

The Fitchburg neighborhood is nestled between downtown Madison and the farmland of Wisconsin, so it has a mixture of suburban, commercial, industrial, and rural properties.

Within the Fitchburg area, there are several parks and recreational areas including Lake Waubesa, Mud Lake, Prarie Moraine Park, and Quarry Ridge.

Along with outdoor activities, there are a variety of places to wine, dine, and catch up with friends. Some recommended places include Quivey’s Grove, Great Dane Pub & Brewing, Bonfyre American Grille, and The Thirsty Goat.

On a more family friendly note, there are many daycares and schools in close proximity to or in the Fitchburg area including Pooh Bear Childcare, Savanna Oaks Middle School, and Hillcrest High School.

This community is unique because they want to rely on sustainable energy as much as possible. To do this, it is powered completely by solar panels and they encourage people to install solar on their homes.

Middleton

The Middleton community is a great place to be near the big city while still capturing the small-town feel. With a mixture of residential, commercial and recreational spaces, this vibrant area is a cultural hub.

The Middleton area is home to several recreations including Lakeview Hill Park, Middleton Hills Park, Stiker’s Pond, Pleasant View Golf Course, and Pheasant Hills Conservancy.

Residents also have access to dining, drinking, and exploring with being close to downtown Middleton. They have several attractions, restaurants, and boutiques. Some recommended places to try are Greenway Station, Villa Doce, Craftsman Table & Tap, The Village Green, and Capital Brewery.

Middleton is also close proximity to a variety of public schools including West Middleton Elementary, Olson Elementary, and Memorial High School.

What sets Middleton apart from other areas is that they host numerous annual events to bring the community together. They have the Wine Walk, Haunted Hustle Races, and the Good Neighbor Festival.
